Rain and more rain...

The rain may fall softly on the plain, but in Beijing it comes down in buckets! Our day of sightseeing in the Chinese capital was wet, but not washed out. Who would come this far and not trudge through the Forbidden City in the rain or climb the Great Wall in a downpour? Yet for such miserable climatic conditions, it was a wonderful day as we were introduced to these cultural highlights of our new daughter’s homeland. We had a wonderful meal in Beijing with our local CHI group (families adopting from Anhui and Jiangxi provinces), dining on Peking Duck and many, many other Chinese delicacies. Drew, Samuel, Niles, and Anna climbed high on the Great Wall, while Mom and Dad made it much farther than what they first thought they could (but not as far as the youngsters.) We leave Beijing tomorrow for Hefei, Anhui, where on Monday we meet Gracee. The rain continues to come down as I write this posting. Though while making for a messy day, it was a delightful alternative to the heat wave the city experienced last week. Although some of us had a tough time sleeping (really only Dad), everyone is healthy and well. God continues to bless and Gracee’s Big Adventure continues…
